The Security Council consisting of 15 Members, has the primary responsibility of maintenance of peace and security. All members are authorized to vote by any permanent member hinder the selection, regardless of the completion of required votes.

The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or an act of aggression. It calls the parties to settle disputes by peaceful means and can resort to imposing sanctions or authorize the use of force to maintain peace and security.
